 This is the collection database include some digitized images of old documents and rare books, photos, other materials held by Tohoku University Medical Library.

Collections

  • Aoki Collection
    This collection includes a variety of materials such as old books and research data of Daisuke AOKI, M.D., Ph.D. (1901-1967), who graduated from the Tohoku Imperial University School of Medicine, founded the Miyagi Prefectural Institute of Public Health, and served as its first director.

  • Documents of Aoki
    This is a subset of the Aoki Collection. This collection consists of ancient documents primarily focused on the medical history and epidemic history of the Tohoku region, collected by Mr. Aoki during his research and investigations.

  • Old Japanese Medical Books
    This collection contains ancient medical books that were once held by predecessor schools of Tohoku University's Medical School, individuals associated with the university, and physicians of the Sendai Domain (doctors who worked for the Sendai Domain). It includes materials that are now considered rare books in our library.

  • Course Notebooks
    This collection consists of lecture notes on anatomy and other subjects written by students around 1905, when Lu Xun, a leading literary writer and thinker of modern China, was enrolled at the "Sendai Medical College", and roughly the same period. These are valuable materials for understanding the history of medical education.
