The Kotani Documents are a collection of historical records from the Kotani merchant house, a materia medica and ceramics trader that operated in Kokubun-machi in Sendai castle town (modern-day Kokubun-chō in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture). The collection primarily contains material related to the guild (nakama) system in Sendai domain as well as the trade in a variety of pharmaceutical goods.
